Outreach Support Packages
Our SEND Specialist Outreach Support Packages: 1
Comprehensive Initial Child Support: Understanding Needs, Unlocking Potential
A focused first step specifically designed to support your understanding of an individual pupil causing concern and develop a clear pathway forward.
For this package, a Briarwood specialist will visit your school to conduct a targeted observation of the child, allowing us to see their interactions and challenges within their familiar environment. It is designed to be a valuable investment in understanding and addressing the needs of individual pupils. Following the observation, we will engage in a focused discussion, of up to one hour, with relevant school staff to gather crucial context and insights. Drawing upon the observation and discussion, our specialist will provide a basic needs assessment to help pinpoint potential underlying difficulties or contributing factors and an outline of recommended strategies that your staff can begin to implement immediately. This initial stage will then conclude with a proposal for further support, clearly suggesting potential next steps or services that could be commissioned from Briarwood Reach & Connect or onward referrals to other services for more in-depth or ongoing assistance, tailored to the needs identified. This could range from focused training, functional behaviour assessment support, curriculum adaptation advice, or further targeted interventions.

Enhanced Child Support: Practical Implementation and Progress Reviews
An in-depth and practical approach to pupil support.
This package includes everything in the Comprehensive Initial Child Support package, in addition to the following:
- 3 Hours Direct Support for Strategy Implementation & Provision of Resources: A specialist practitioner will provide hands-on time dedicated to supporting your staff in actively implementing the recommended strategies within the school setting. This includes modelling techniques and strategies, working alongside staff and providing relevant resources to aid implementation, drawing on a range of effective and supportive materials.
- Dedicated Review Meeting following the Implementation Period: This meeting provides an opportunity to discuss the impact and effectiveness of the implemented strategies, reflect on the child's progress, consolidate learning, and refine the plan for any further support. It ensures accountability and helps formalise next steps.

Targeted Diagnostic Assessment: Understanding the Root Causes
In-depth analyses uncovering the underlying reasons for a pupil' s difficulties or barriers to learning
Building on the initial stages of consultation, observation, basic needs assessment, strategy recommendations, and foundational implementation support (packages 1 & 2), our Targeted Diagnostic Assessment offers a deeper, more detailed exploration of a pupil's unique challenges. Activities included in this package may comprise of any or all of the following:
- Functional Behaviour Analysis (FBA): A systematic analysis to understand the function or purpose of specific behaviours, moving beyond simply reacting and towards proactively understanding and addressing underlying causes.
- Learning Needs Analysis: An in-depth assessment to identify specific academic or cognitive barriers, often involving observing learning in the classroom, reviewing work, and using assessment tools. This supports adapting the curriculum to be both accessible and pertinent to the child's needs.
- Environmental Audit: A review of the school environment, including specific classrooms or spaces, to assess how well it meets the pupil's needs (e.g., sensory environment, structure, accessibility) and inform recommendations for creating more supportive and inclusive settings.
- Review of Specific Documents: Evaluation of school policies, behaviour strategies, or curriculum plans as they relate to the individual pupil or SEND provision more broadly, providing feedback to ensure they are comprehensive and effective.
- Data Analysis Support: Assisting schools in collecting and analysing relevant data (e.g., behaviour incidents, attendance, assessment data) to identify patterns, inform interventions and assess impact.

Applying Expertise: Bespoke SEND Solutions
Bespoke commissioning of highly targeted interventions, activities and support.
While we offer structured initial support packages that include observation, assessment, strategy recommendations, and foundational implementation support, we recognise that some situations require a more individualised approach.
Applying Expertise: Bespoke SEND Solutions allows schools to commission support that is negotiated and agreed upon based on a detailed understanding of their specific context and goals. Our expertise allows us to develop highly specific and tailored programmes. Following an initial discussion or assessment, we can work with your school to design a support package that directly addresses the identified needs of a specific pupil or targets a particular area for school improvement related to SEND provision.
A bespoke package can draw upon our range of specialist activities and support, which could include:
• Tailored training sessions for staff on specific approaches e.g. Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), communication strategies, sensory processing, structure in class
• In-depth diagnostic assessments such as Functional Behaviour Analysis (FBA) to understand challenging behaviours
• Learning Needs Analysis to identify specific academic barriers and support curriculum adaptation
• Hands-on modelling of techniques and strategies within the classroom setting
• Advice and support on assessment, moderation, and developing personalised learning plans
• Data analysis support to inform interventions
• Support with policy and document review
We are able to provide completely bespoke solutions to schools based on their current needs. These packages are costed individually and you are provided with a costed project plan and service level agreement before work commences. An example of activities included in a bespoke solution are:
Support for specific needs or approaches.
